GEOGRAPHY CLUB
Geography Club is a 2013 gay movie about a group of teenagers discovering their sexual identities. Russell is going on dates with girls but is still secretly involved in a gay affair with football quarterback Kevin. Kevin is trying very hard for his teammates not to find out. Some in the group do not know who they are or what they want. They decide to join the geography club to try and discover themselves in a semi secretive environment but it really does not work out as they expected.
THE NEW NORMAL
The New Normal is a gay TV series about Bryan and David a wealthy gay couple living in Los Angeles. The series premiered in 2012. They both have successful careers but the only thing missing in their relationship is a baby. They choose to get a baby through a surrogate mother named Goldie. Goldie is a single mother and waitress from Ohio. She left her adulterous husband and moved to Los Angleles with her nine year old daughter Shania. Goldie moves in with the gay couple against the wishes of her grandmother. The grandmother comes over to oppose the surrogacy and causes havoc for the couple and Goldie.
YOU CAN'T CURRY LOVE
This is a 2009 Indian gay movie about Vikas who works in London. Vikas has feeling towards his boss but Thom is straight. He is sent on a business trip to New Delhi and is initially not happy going there. In New Delhi he meets Sunil who is a handsome desk clerk at the hotel he is staying. He falls in love with Sunil and goes ahead to discover more about India even falling in love with a transgender. You can't curry love of one of the Indian gay movies which has won awards around the world.
TWO OF US
Two of Us is one of the gay movies produced to confront government attempts to ban gay sexual education in British schools. It was released in 1987. Phil is a fun loving student in his final year in secondary school. He has a girlfriend Sharon. Sharon's best friend Vera is attracted to Phil's best friend Matthew. Matthew is however gay. He dropped out of school the previous year to escape teasing and humiliation. He also gets in trouble at home when his collection of gay movies is discovered. Phil is torn between his love for Sharon and feeling towards Matthew. He tries to have them both but it eventually leads to problems. Phil and Matthew eventually decide run away to the coastal resort of Seaford to escape the complications of home life.
STRUGGLE
Struggle is a 2010 gay movie about Darren. Darren is a young gay man who has just arrived in Toronto. He has nowhere to live and is running out of money. He finds some solace with a group of gay rent boys. He falls in love with one of the boys in the group called Steve. Steve already has a boyfriend and so it bound to get complicated. Darren tries very hard to avoid prostituting himself which makes his life lonely. His infatuation with Steve and loneliness leads him to catastrophic circumstances.
THE LARAMIE PROJECT
This is a 2002 gay movie based on a play in reaction to the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard presumably because he was gay. Matthew was a student at the University of Wyoming. On the midnight of October 7 1998 he met Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson at Fireside Lounge in Laramie, Wyoming. The two offered to drive Matthew home but only to drive into a remote location where they robbed and tortured him. Matthew was discovered many hours later by a cyclist unconscious. He never regained consciousness and later passed on from his injuries. His death was denounced as a hate crime. McKinney and Henderson are serving life sentences for the murder.
